Zakynthos is internationally known as “Zante”, the beautiful green island in Greece, surrounded by the clear blue water of the the Ionian Sea. Endowed with fertile valleys and a temperate climate (area: 406 sq. km; coastline: 123 km). Its landscape diversity has resulted in different types of beaches: there are sandy beaches in secluded coves where the tranquil waters are deep blue on the island’s southeastern part; yet, if rugged cliffs and an interesting underwater world are to your liking, try the western part of the island, namely on the Beach of Navagio.
Navagio Beach is an isolated sandy cove on Zakynthos island and one of the most famous beaches in Greece. Navagio is located on the north-west shore of the Ionian islands of Zakynthos (Zante), in the Municipality of Elation.
The area is defined by its sheer limestone cliffs, white sand beaches, and clear blue water, underwater caves and so on which attract thousands of tourists yearly. The strip of beach is accessed only by boat, from Porto Vromi to the south, and from the Harbor of Saint Nikolas in Volimes to the north-east. More typically, boats arrive from the harbor of Zakynthos, the capital city, with cruises and tours anchoring hourly at Navagio. You can do very interesting things on the Beach of Navagio.
